Bandwidth Lab

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 20, 2026 · Applies to Bandwidth Lab for Android (package com.bandwidthlab)

Summary

Bandwidth Lab is a network testing tool. It does not collect, store on any server, sell, or share any personal data. Everything the app needs, including your profiles, chosen apps, and settings, stays on your device. The app has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs.

1. Who we are

Bandwidth Lab ("the app", "we", "us") is developed and published by [Developer name]. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.

2. How the app uses the VPN (VpnService)

The core feature of Bandwidth Lab is simulating network conditions such as limited bandwidth, latency, jitter, and packet loss, so developers and testers can see how apps behave on slow or unstable connections. To do this, the app uses Android's VpnService to create a local VPN interface that runs entirely on your device.

3. Information the app accesses

Information Why Leaves the device?
List of installed apps that have a launcher icon (name, icon, package name) So you can choose which apps to throttle No
Network traffic of the chosen apps Relayed on the device to apply the selected network conditions; measured only as live speed (bytes per second) shown in the app Only to its original destination, exactly as without the app
Network profiles you create, chosen apps, theme, and app preferences Saved so the app remembers your settings No. Stored in the app's private storage; cloud backup and device transfer are disabled

The app does not access your contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, files, accounts, phone number, or device identifiers, and does not create any user identifier.

4. Permissions

5. Data sharing and third parties

We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer any data to third parties, because the app does not collect any. The app contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs.

Google Play may collect information when you download or update the app, as described in Google's Privacy Policy.

6. Data retention and deletion

All data stays on your device until you remove it. You can delete custom profiles in the app, clear the app's data in Android Settings → Apps → Bandwidth Lab → Storage, or uninstall the app, which removes everything it stored. Since we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

7. Security

The app keeps its data in Android's private app storage, which other apps cannot read. The VPN interface exists only on your device and only while throttling is active. Traffic that apps send over encrypted connections (such as HTTPS) stays encrypted; Bandwidth Lab does not decrypt it.

8. Children

Bandwidth Lab is a developer and testing tool and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect any information from children or from anyone else.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be shown inside the app, where you will be asked to review the policy again.

10. Contact

Questions about this policy or the app can be sent to sunilparmar.developer@gmail.com.
